Deep Tissue – Works on the deeper layers of muscle tissue. Firm finger, heal of hand and lower arm and elbow pressure is used to concentrate on particular areas, following or going across the fibres of muscles and tendons, and promoting blood flow and healing.

Sports – Releases muscle tension and restoring balance to the musculoskeletal system is an important part of Sports massage. If you’re an athlete, Sports massage can prevent injuries caused by overuse, making it as important to your body as your training schedule.

Indian Head – Releases the stress that has accumulated in the tissues, muscles and joints of the head, face, neck and shoulders. Drawn from ayurvedic systems of healing as practised in India for over a thousand years, it can help you relax and heal as well as boosting hair condition and growth.

LA Stone Therapy – Uses heated black basalt lava stones and cool white marble for a really deep-tissue cleansing treatment which promotes healing within the body: improving circulation and the elimination of toxins. It is brilliant for people who (for whatever reason) find traditional deep tissue work too uncomfortable.

Lymphatic Drainage – Uses the body’s mechanism for removing toxins by very light pressure and long, gentle, rhythmic strokes to increase lymphatic flow. This can really help if you suffer regularly from common illnesses such as colds. It’s also ideal for those who lead sedentary lifestyles.

Reflexology – Uses pressure on the feet (hands or ears) to re balance other areas of the body. It is a relaxing therapy which helps restore equilibrium, improving your well being and reducing your feelings of stress. Uses passive stretching and pressure to balances the bodies energy systems, leaving you deeply relaxed and energised.

Reiki – Leaves you feeling deeply peaceful and content. This ancient form of ‘laying on of hands’, derived from Tibetan Buddhism, uses the body’s natural life force to heal and release – mentally, physically and spiritually; I use Chakra crystals in Reiki to help balance the meridians.

Swedish – Is the most popular form of massage, improving circulation and flushing toxins to reduce emotional and physical stress. The changing pressures of the strokes are softer over more sensitive parts of the body, stronger over more muscled areas.

Thai – Using passive stretching and gentle pressure to balance the body’s energy systems. This body therapy will leave you deeply relaxed and energised, with increased flexibility in muscles and joints.

Aromatherapy – Works by assisting the body’s natural ability to balance, regulate, heal and maintain itself. Take it a bit further and try Aromatherapy. “Essential Oils” (volatile plant oils) are so powerful that they can be used for the treatment or prevention of disease.

Hopi Candles – Named after the Native American tribe who first brought this therapy to the West, Hopi candles soothe irritated areas and stimulate circulation of the ears. Some problems helped include snoring, tinnitus, excess ear wax, migraine and vertigo.

Facials – A natural facelift using tsubo points with movements all designed to improve signs of aging by stimulating blood flow.

Pregnancy (pre and post) – Can be enjoyed from twelve weeks of pregnancy onwards. Eases muscular tension, reduces stress, improves posture and aids relaxation.

I had a massage from Danielle at Re:Treat on 29 November.  It lasted for an hour and a half, and was amazing.  She worked with every part of my body making me and my muscles relax intensely.  She used a vibrating machine that initially tickles but once you get used to it, it seems to vibrate any tension away.  Danielle also talked me through two visualisations that took me away from every day life.

After the massage, I was so relaxed that even walking seemed alien!  I would always recommend Danielle for any treatments, but her massage was the best I’ve ever had.

Danielle has been my massage therapist since she first started her own business 16 years ago. She’s experienced and knowledgeable and intuitive to her clients’ needs. She has provided fantastic massage and reflexology for period pain, pregnancy, being a tired new mum and now the aches and pains of a physical job as a gardener. She creates a lovely environment with warm towels, hot stones, oils and relaxing music. It’s hard not to fall asleep sometimes. Thanks Danielle, here’s to another 16 years!
